Eva passed away on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012 at North Texas Medical Center in Gainesville.
She was born on August 9, 1934 in Era to James Herschel "Bud" Dean and Iva Jane (Durham) Dean. She married Julius John "Judy" Haverkamp on Nov. 6, 1951 in Gainesville. She was an accomplished pianist in her youth. She became a Licensed Vocational Nurse in 1965 and later obtained her Associate of Applied Science Degree at Cooke County College in 1979. She was the first female degreed paramedic in the state of Texas. She was active in the P.T.A. as President and Room Mother at McMurray Elementary School. She was a member of the Mu Epsilon Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity. She was a member of the L.V.N. Association and The National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (national and local). She helped organize the Cooke County Democratic Women, serving as Treasurer. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Gainesville.
Survivors include daughters, Vicky Hildebrand of Tulsa, Okla., Janna Vitiello of El Paso, Judy Bengfort of Gainesville and Patti Haverkamp of Gainesville; a brother, Weldon Dean and wife, Grace of Gainesville; six grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
