Son of Merle & Sylvia (Hartmann) Westerhoff.
He was a 1961 graduate of Seward High School. He worked at Shemmerhorn's as a shoe shine boy while he was in school.

He married Rosie Ann Klement June 21, 1964, in Seward.

He worked at Gold's shoe department in Lincoln then was employed with Alex Stoehr at Stoehr Shoe Repair. When Alex retired he opened Al's Shoe Repair in 1981 and operated the store until 2001.

He worked at Hangers Orthopedic until 2003 when he reopened Al's Shoe Repair in Bethany in Lincoln.

He was a member of the Seward United Methodist Church and the Seward Volunteer Fire Department for more than 25 years. He enjoyed Nebraska football and all Nebraska sports, his morning coffee buddies, family get-togethers and casino outings.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Merle and Sylvia Westerhoff.

Survivors include his wife, Rosie Westerhoff, Seward, daughter and son-in-law, Annette and Ron Sova, Seward, son and daughter-in-law, Allen, Jr., and Shelley Westerhoff, Monroe, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Emil Klement and Pat DeWispelare, Frank Klement, John and Anita Klement and Annie Klement, all of Ulysses, and Mary Jane and Pete Kortum, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral Jan. 8 at the United Methodist Church in Seward. Interment was at the Seward Cemetery. Casketbearers were Emil, John and Frank Klement, Pete Kortum, Jerry Kremer and Dennis Wickersham.
