The Correctionville News, 6 April 1960, page 1: Anna Marie Emme was born December 17, 1888, in Wettenbostal, West Germany, daughter of Christoph Emme and Anna Kohnmeier. She came with her family to the United States settling at Anoka, Nebraska, and later at Dallas, South Dakota. On April 24, 1910, she married Fred G. Rock at Dallas and they settled at Colome, South Dakota, and began farming. In 1935 the family moved to a farm two miles west of Salem Lutheran Church and fifteen years later to a farm several miles east of the church. In October, 1959, they retired and moved to Moville. Mrs. Rock had been in poor health for fifteen years but her condition seemed improved recently and she visited members of her family on the west coast, returning in January, 1960. She passed away at her home March 30, 1960, at the age of 71. Survivors include the widower, six daughters, Mrs. LaVern (Ella) Hopp of Kingsley, Mrs. Rudy (Hertha) Hinkhouse of Correctionville, Mrs. Leonard (Clara) Rippke, Mrs. Verl (Martha) Van Norman, Mrs. Vern (Mildred) Weldner, of Moville and Mrs. John (Norma) Dallen, Jr., of Seattle; two sons, Albert of Celina, Ohio, and William of Bountiful, Utah; two sisters, Mrs. James Edwards of Dallas, South Dakota, and Mrs. Erwin Baumeister of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, two brothers, August Emme of St. Charles, South Dakota, and William Emme of Millboro, South Dakota, and twenty-nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Martin, and a brother, Herman. Services were held Saturday, April 2, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moville with Rev. John Deines, pastor of Salem Lutheran Church where she had been an active member, officiating. Burial was at the Rock Branch Cemetery.
