Horace G. "H.G./Sarge" Wilson, 84 years of age, of Somerset, Kentucky, departed this life and entered into eternal peace on Friday, January 4th, 2013 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

Horace was born in Somerset, Kentucky on May 2nd, 1928, son of the late Emery and Daisy Ann Ping Wilson. He was a 1946 graduate Central Vocational High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. Horace was a former commissioner of little league football and coached little league baseball and Babe Ruth. He started back the little league basketball program at the Somerset National Guard Armory after the closing of the former program. He was superintendent of General Burnside Island for nine years. "Sarge" was a retired First Sergeant with the Kentucky Army National Guard after serving 33 years. He was very influential in the lives of many young men and women who came through the doors of the Armory. He was also very influential in the community, always behind the scenes. He helped many struggling people and was a stranger to no one, loving to make people smile. He loved his wife, family and Church and was very proud of his four sons. He enjoyed fishing, hiking, playing solitaire and was an accomplished guitarist.

Horace was survived by his loving wife, Glenda Brinkley Wilson, whom he married on September 25th, 1949 in Rossville, Georgia; four sons, Kenneth Earl (and Shannon) Wilson, William Bruce (and Rebecca) Wilson, George Brinkley (and Renee) Wilson, and Mark Allan Wilson; eight grandchildren, Ann Marie (and John) Alexander, Kendra (and Jack) Champlin, Matthew B. Wilson, Lori Elizabeth Wilson, Olivia Makayla Wilson, Boone Williams (and Savanah King), Jake Williams, and Shelby Williams; six great grandchildren, Katherine Alexander, Aaron Lucas Alexander, Caden Sawyer Alexander, Joey Farley, Kelley Farley, and Karlie Champlin; and a host of other family and friends who mourn his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emery Wilson and Daisy Ann Wilson; two brothers, Harold J. Wilson and Emery Wilson Jr.; and one sister, Delores Grubbs.

Visitations were held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 6th, 2013 at the First Presbyterian Church and again on Monday, January 7th from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. also at the First Presbyterian Church.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 7th, 2013 at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Allen Brimer and Rev. Jack Wilhelm officiating.

His pallbearers were: John L. Perkins, Greg Reynolds, Danny Floyd, Ronald J. Burchfield, Charles Estes, and Jim Hughes.

Interment followed in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens in Somerset, Kentucky.

The Somerset Undertaking Company and Crematory in Somerset, Kentucky was in charge of the arrangements for Horace.
