Visitation will be held on Friday, March 17, 2006, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Bentley Funeral Home, Durant. Services will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. at the Bentley Funeral Home, Durant. Pastor Nancy Hoelter will officiate. Serving as casket bearers will be Keith Lilienthal, Tom Lilienthal, Charles Lilienthal, Gary Lilienthal, Lance Paulsen and Travis Garrett.
Memorials may be made to the Durant Ambulance or the Durant Fire Fighters in her memory.
Stella Lillian Lilienthal was born June 8, 1912, to Henry and Lillie (Grafing) Lilienthal in Scott County, Iowa. She married Carl Matthew Ploen on December 11, 1941, in Davenport. He preceded her in death on October 27, 1992.
She and Carl farmed together in the earlier years. She enjoyed baking, gardening and listening to music. Above all, she enjoyed her family and their time spent together.
She is survived by her daughter, Ellen (Ronald) Paulsen of Durant; three grandchildren, Jennifer (Travis) Garrett of Anderson, Indiana, Teresa Paulsen of Durant, and Lance (Sarah) Paulsen of Chicago, Illinois, three great-granddaughters, Savannah, Kennedy and Stella Mae; and her brother, Lawrence (Dolly) Lilienthal of Durant.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son, Clark Ploen, two sisters, Meta Otto and Alice Sievers and six brothers, Harry, Albert, Raymond, Arthur, Allen and Alvin Lilienthal.
