Mrs. Hans Speth, an aged an respected resident of Belmont, died at her home here Thursday Sept. 20, 1923, at the ripe old age of 84 years. The funeral was held Monday at 1 pm.
It has pleased the Lord of life and death to call from time into eternity, Caroline Katharine Speth, (nee) Speth, who was born on the 22nd of Sept. A.D. 1849, in Schleswig, Holstein, Germany, and baptized in infancy. At the age of 8 years she emigrated with her parents, coming to Wisconsin, and taking up their abode in the vicinity of Platteville.
On July 5th, 1865 she entered the holy estate of matrimony with Mr. John Speth. To this union twelve children were born of whom six have preceded the mother in death, two sons who died in the prime of manhood and one daughter, Mrs. Herman Logemann, and three in infancy. The father departed this life in 1890.
