Anna Marie Niekamp, age 91, of Linn, Mo., died Monday, January 16, 2006, at Autumn Meadows Skilled Care, due to Alzheimers. She was born May 14, 1914, in Loose Creek, Mo., the daughter of Charles and Mary (Backes) Haslag, both deceased. She was married February 18, 1936, in Loose Creek, Mo., to to Raymond T. Niekamp, who preceded her in death July 17, 1979. Anna was a lifelong resident of Osage County, Mo. She was a homemaker and enjoyed long years of piecing quilts, baking cookies for her grandchildren and playing cards. Anna was employed for several years as a cook at St. George School in Linn. Prior to her and her husband's retirement, they farmed the land now owned by her son. Anna was a coordinator for the Older Adult Transportation System. She was an active member of St. George Parish, St. Ann's Sodality, and the sewing circle.

Survivors include one son: Robert and wife Evelyn Niekamp of Linn, Mo.; two daughters: Mary Esther and husband Al Kremer of Loose Creek, Mo., and Anna Mae & husband John Wilding of Hermann, Mo.; three sisters: Frances Niekamp of Taos, Mo., Sr. Alice Haslag, OSSR of Bergville, South Africa, and Margaret Schaefer of Linn, Mo.; one brother: Clarence Haslag of Loose Creek, Mo.; 16 grandchildren: Larry (Theresa) Kremer, Virginia (Jeff) Brandt, Sandra (Randy) Walther, Harvey (Becky) Kremer, Paula (Scott) Peters, Kenny (Tracy) Niekamp, Dennis (Cathy) Niekamp, Gary (Kelly) Niekamp, Karen (Richie) Crutchfield, Diane Niekamp (fiance Andy Zweifel), Lisa Niekamp, Paul (Mary) Wilding, Joe (Laura) Wilding, Susan (Brian) Chorley, Andy (Allison) Wilding, Matt Wilding; and 24 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one sister: Angela Eads; and one brother: Alfred Haslag; and two grandchildren: Carl Kremer & Kathleen Kremer. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Morton Funeral Home, Linn, Mo. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 19, 2006, at St. George Church, Linn, Mo., with Rev. Joseph Corel as the Celebrant. Interment will follow in the St. George Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. George Church, Linn, Mo. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Morton Funeral Home, Linn, Mo. 573-897-2214.
