IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Ruben Daniel Reinke, 76, of Idaho Falls, died July 26, 2005 at the Good Samaritan Center of complications of Alzheimer's disease.

He was born October 23, 1928, in Bessie, Oklahoma to Fredericka Schultz Reinke and Christian Reinke. He was the eighth child of a family of ten children. His mother passed away when Ruben was seven years of age, and he was raised by his father and loving elder sister, Edna R. Parker. Ruben graduated from Clinton, Oklahoma High School. Following graduation, he served for two years during the Korean Conflict. He then attended North Dakota State University where he met his wife to be Marlys Wentz. They were married June 24, 1955 in Fargo, North Dakota at the First Lutheran Church.

Ruben was a gregarious individual with friends around the world. He was truly the most popular and the only one the girls lined up for. He owned businesses in Fargo, North Dakota and then Billings, Montana which specialized in background paging and music services. Ruben loved to play Golf and moved to Idaho Falls after his wife passed away in 1982 to live with his son Tim Reinke where he helped do club repairs at Pinecrest Golf Course. While in Idaho Falls, Ruben met his companion and best friend of almost 20 years, Catherine Nelson. They traveled, played golf, and enjoyed family gatherings together. Ruben enjoyed his life everyday and lived up to his favorite expression to "Take your eyes off yourself and put them on others."

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers , John and Emil, and sisters Lydia Sanders, Edna Parker, Alice Rose, and Ruth Cilberto. He is survived by three children, Mike Reinke of Billings, Montana, Tammy Reinke of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, and Tim (Cindy) Reinke of Idaho Falls, Idaho. He is also survived by three brothers, Walter Reinke of Townsend, Montana, Cecil Reinke of Portland, Oregon, and Norman Reinke of Charles Town, West Virginia and three grandchildren Christopher Reinke of Billings, Montana, and Stephen and Andrew Reinke of Idaho Falls, Idaho.

A Celebration of Ruben's life will be held Monday, August 1, 2005, at the Sandpiper Restaurant in Idaho Falls, Idaho from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Fargo, North Dakota alongside his loving wife, Marlys.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Tim Reinke, 270 Sunny Heights Lane, Idaho Falls, Idaho 83402, and he will make contributions to the Good Samaritan Center, Eastern Idaho Hospice, and the Pinecrest Last Bash Fund.

The Reinke family wishes to offer their heartfelt gratitude for the kind and loving care given to him by the nurses and staff of the Idaho Falls Good Samaritan Center and the Eastern Idaho Hospice program.
