BRILLION – word was received here Thursday of the death of MRS. SOPHIA GRUETT, which occurred last Friday following a stroke early the previous day at the home of her daughter in Reed City, Mich., where she had been visiting for the past two months.
Deceased was born August 2, 1873, in Rantoul, Calumet county, and had lived in Brillion since 1919 when her husband and her family came here from Reed City, where Mr. Gruett had accepted a position as teacher in the Trinity Lutheran day school. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Ladies’ Aid society and of Trinity congregation.
Survivors are one son, Helmuth Gruett of Green Bay; four daughters, Mrs. Otto J. (Hulda) Bartz of this village, Mrs. Walter (Frieda) Stark of Cedarburg, Mrs. Fred (Sally) Jentz Jr. of Appleton, and Mrs. Albert Blank of Reed City; four brothers, Carl Hillmann of this village, Albert of Potters, Martin of Stockbridge and William of Kiel; five sisters, Mrs. R. Ortlepp, Mrs. William Biedenbender and Mrs. O. Schwalenberg of Potters and Mrs. William Labitzke of Hilbert and her aged mother.
A short service will be held in Reed City after which the body will be brought here for burial. Services will be held at Trinity Lutheran church with the Rev. Martin Sauer will officiate.
