M. Evelyn Controy of Shiremanstown died Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at Country Meadows West in Mechanicsburg. Evelyn was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Mary Kirbach.

Evelyn was a graduate of Alton Business School in Alton, IL. She began her working career with the opening of Holy Spirit Hospital and remained an integral part of the staff until her retirement in 1990 after 35 years of dedicated service.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mechanicsburg, and the York, Harrisburg, and Lebanon Polka Clubs where she was an avid Polka dancer.

Evelyn had many passions in life. She enjoyed the outdoors, flowers and gardening, and especially baseball.

Her favorite teams were the Atlanta Braves, St. Louis Cardinals, and the Philadelphia Phillies.

Evelyn was such an avid fan that she could rally off the statistics of her favorite teams and players.

She was loved by many and will be terribly missed by all.

Surviving is her three children Rick Controy of Hiawassee, GA; Don Controy and his wife Marianne of Warminster, PA; Janet Holm and her husband Doug of Ruther Glen, VA; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mechanicsburg with visitation held from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.

Burial will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Evelyn Controy to Holy Spirit Hospital Health Center, 503 N. 21st St. Camp Hill, PA 17011.
