Crystal was born on November 10, 1980 in Hays, Kansas the daughter of Jeffrey K. and Ennetta Gayle (McCarter) Schmidt.
Crystal was a graduate of Liberal High School class of 1999.
Crystal was a member of the show choir and dance troupe, and was currently enrolled in nursing school.
Crystal was a member of the New Life Church of Liberal, Kansas.
A devoted mother, Crystal took pride in raising her children.
She enjoyed cooking, reading, doing crochet work, and hosting parties.
