Kathryn (Kay) M. Lemme, 91, passed away on Sunday, January 20, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in New Underwood.
She was born on November 12, 1921 to Robert and Ella (Barrett) Finley in Bryant, SD. She graduated from Bryant High School in 1939.
In the summer of 1941 she married Clifford L. Lemme in Sioux City, IA. Kay followed her husband's baseball career and traveled throughout the tri-state area before settling down in Watertown, SD.
Kay loved family gathering and enjoying her many grandchildren. She had abundant talents as a seamstress and crafter.
Katherine is survived by her ten children; David (Dot) Lemme, San Antonio, TX, Randy (Karen) Lemme, Rapid City, Barry (Doreen) Lemme, Lake Norden, SD, Gregg (Fay) Lemme, Stonewall, LA, Doug (Margie) Lemme, Lakewood, CO, Daryl (Dianne) Lemme, Rapid City, Marc (Anita) Lemme, Tyler, TX, Kevin Lemme, Rapid City, Robin Lemme, Rapid City, Lori (Scott) Raczynski, Rapid City; daughter-in-law, Monica (Mike deceased) Lemme, Tucson, AZ; brother, Robert (Bud) Finley, Rapid City; 30 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cliff; son, Mike; and grandson, Heath.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in New Underwood for their friendship, warmth and kindness while our mother was a resident. You treated our mother with dignity and respect until her final breath and for that we will be forever grateful. We would also like to thank our mother's physician, Dr. Wessel, for taking the time to just sit and visit with her when she needed to talk, and caring for her throughout the past 20 plus years.
Visitation will be from 5-7 pm on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Kirk Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be at 1:30 pm on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Kirk Funeral Home with Father Bill Zandri officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Lawn Memorial Park.
