Barbara Cunningham
Barbara Adamek Cunningham, 53, wife of 25 years to Maj. W. David Cunningham USMC retired of Day Drive, Columbus, died Saturday, March 13, 2004, in St. Luke's Hospital.
Born July 11, 1950, in Waco, Texas, she was the daughter of Dorothy Marie Freeman Adamek of Columbus and the late Woodrow Wilson Adamek.
She graduated from Connally High School in Lakeview, Texas. She graduated from Texas Women's University in Denton, Texas. She taught Second Grade at Axtell School, Axtell, Texas. She moved to Polk County in 1997. She was a member of the Tryon United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and was on the administrative council.
Surviving in addition to her mother and husband are two daughters, Abby Marie Cunningham, a sophomore at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the current Miss Columbus and Kate Elizabeth Cunningham, a senior at Polk County High School and an entering freshman at UNC-Chapel Hill; a brother, Rodney and wife, Anna Adamek, of Waco, Texas. Also surviving is a niece and nephew, Lauren and Christopher Adamek.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Tryon United Methodist Church with the Rev. Brian C. Allen officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday in the McFarland Funeral Chapel.
The body will be sent to Waco, Texas, for burial in Oak Wood Cemetery.
