John Scholz Died After Long Illness
John Scholz, 66, farmer residing about five miles northeast of this city, died at his home at 12:15 o'clock Thursday afternoon, after a serious illness of about four months. He had been in failing health for the past two yeas, suffering from a complication of dropsy, gout and heart trouble.

Born September 14, 1863, in Czechoslovakia, Austria, Mr. Scholz emigrated to America with his parents, arriving at Baltimore, Md., on Oct. 12, 1875. Shortly thereafter, the family located at Duncan, Neb., and engaged in farming, in which occupation the departed had also in his later years been engaged. In March, 1920, he moved with his family to Grand Island, and since that time has resided on a farm northeast of this city. On December 12, 1899, he was united in marriage with Miss Emma Liebundgut, of Duncan. To this union were born five children, Frank J., Walter H., Anton, Helen and Esther, all residing at home.

Besides his widow and children, he is survived by three brothers, Frank, of Duncan, Neb.; Charles, of Stuart, Neb., Joseph, of Berkeley, Cal., and two sisters, Mrs. Carl Moschenross, of Red Deer, Alta., Canada; and Mrs. Henry Koester, of Sidney, Neb.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. from the home, and at 1:30 p.m. from Trinity Lutheran church on East Second street, Rev. A. J. C. Moeller officiating. Burial will be in the Grand Island cemetery.
