Frank John Michalek Sr., 92, of Crystal passed away Friday, Feb. 13, 2004, at Schnepp Health Care Center, St. Louis.

He was born May 5, 1911, in Lennon, the son of Nicholas and Anna Halka Michalek.

He was raised in Perry Township and attended Lovejoy Country School and Perry High School. In 1934, he married Elizabeth Joo of Linden.

He was a laborer in Flint and Detroit until 1949. He then purchased a farm on Locke Road in Perry. He farmed 120 acres and raised pork until retiring in 1972, at which time he moved to Crystal. He was an avid fisherman, craftsman and enjoyed traveling and spending his winters in Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents; former spouse. Elizabeth; two sisters, Helen Roberts, Agnes Isham; brother, John Michalek; grandchild, Christine McKone Alward; and great-grandchild, Alexis Harris.

He is survived by six children, Dorothy and Harry Sayles of Crystal, Robert and Sandra Michalek of Perry, Joanne and Robert Willard of East Lansing, Betty and Howard Livermore of Carson City, James and Laurel Michalek of Stanton, Frank John "Jack" Jr. and Diana Michalek of Sheridan; his beloved friend and companion, Lula Jansen of Crystal and family; three sisters, Mary Nohel of Morrice, Frances Lewis, Rose and Joe Gubry, all of Perry' brother, George and Frances Michalek of Ithaca; 17 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian burial is 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Carson City, with the Rev. Msgr. George Michalek, Frank's nephew, as celebrent, Burial is in Crystal Township Cemetery.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Lux and Schnepp Funeral Home, Carson City. A rosary will be received at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorial contributions may b emade to the Montcalm county Commission on Aging in memory of Frank Michalek or to the wishes of the family.
