He was born as a middle child with an older sister - Erma Gering and a younger brother - Bill Plager. Originally his parents lived in Germany and migrated to Manitoba when Emil was a small child. His brother Bill was born in Canada.

Eventually they moved to Vernon BC. Other than his brother Bill, who worked and lived his life in Kitimat BC, the remainer of the family spent the rest of their lives working and living in Vernon.

His father, Rudolf Ploeger died at the age of 65 from a massive heart attack. His mother, Emilie Kline nee Ploeger lived well into her 90's. They are both buried, side by side at the Vernon Cemetary.

Cancer managed to invade his body by the age of 82 and by the time he was 84 he could no longer fight it off.

His daughter and grandchildren practically lived at the Vernon Jubilee hospital with him during his last few days. During this time his memory started failing and he had no memory of the previous 20 years and his last wife. In his delirium he was back welding and asking his daughter to help him fetch things or alternately begging her to take him back home or he wouldn't play with her anymore.

His daughter managed to honor her daddy's dying wish of going home. He spent his last day at home, surrounded by his loving family - except for his wife - she was sleeping in bed.

He was a Master Welder as well as Building 3 Houses from the ground up, in which he lived. The last house he built, ironically was built on the cement foundation of his mom and dad's house where he lived and grew up years earlier. Across the street of this last house was the house he where second wife lived before they were married and beside his parents property was the first house he built, were he lived with his first wife until she died and then he moved in his second wife and newborn daughter.

He was married 3 times. His first marriage was childless and his wife died of cancer. The second marriage gave him his only child - Misty Fergusson, but ended in divorce. The 3rd wife was childless.

He asked both his daughter and 3rd wife Veronica, to scatter his ashes at Mable Lake. He wanted no fuss - no flowers - no memorial of any kind. His daughter did as her daddy asked while his wife had no consideration of his final request so the location of the other half of his ashes is unknown.

His obituary was written by his Granddaughter - Angeline.

He is survived by his daughter and his Grandchildren and his Great Grandchildren. He has 1 niece and 2 nephews. Both his older sister and younger brother managed to survive him as well

He is sadly missed and muchly loved by all his blood relatives.
