Raymond Reinhardt, 74, of 3901 S. 17th Place, died Monday, September 10, 2001, at his home following a lengthy illness.

Ray was born December 12, 1926 in Sheboygan too the late Gottlieb and Emily (Kuntsmann) Reinhardt. He attended Jefferson and Mapledale Elementary Schools before graduating from South High School, Class of 1944. He them enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving his country from 1944 until 1946, in the South Pacific on the U.S.S. McGowan. In 1947 he married Jean S. Borden of Sheboygan. She preceded him in death in 1956. On September 3, 1977, he married Mary Graefe at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church Chapel.

Ray’s family operated Reinhardt Builders in Sheboygan where Ray worked as a contractor and carpenter. He later was employed by the city of Milwaukee as a Building Inspector, until his retirement in August of 1988. Mr. Reinhardt was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church, the Sheboygan Elk’s Lodge #299, and Riverdale Golf Club. He enjoyed bowling and golfing with his friends and delivering with his wife, Mary, for the Meals on Wheels program .

In addition to his wife Mary, he is survived by two children, Michael (Brook) Reinhardt of Sleepy Hollow, Illinois, Susan (Victor) Ollikainen of Island Lake, Illinois, his step-children, Gary Graefe of Sheboygan and Gail (John) Shinners of Mandeville, Louisiana; seven grandchildren Eric, Brian, Steven, Jason, Jimmy, Kristina and Veronica; six step-grandchildren, Katie, Chris, Dasha, Vonya, Ericka and Vic Jr.; two sisters, Emma (Clarence) Burich of Sheboygan and Joyce (Larry) Peterson of Plymouth, two brothers, Gottlieb Reinhardt of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Fred (Marge) Reinhardt of Florida; a daughter-in-law, Sandy Reinhardt of Plymouth; and other relatives and friends. Ray was also preceded in death by a son, Steve; a step-grandson, John Michael Shinners; three brothers, Emil, Victor and Roland; and a sister, Lillian Hill.

Ray was an inspiration to his loving family. During his recent illness he maintained his sense of humor and reached out to support his family.
