Margaret was one of three children born to Christopher Vincent and Anna (Tasch) Steinbeck in Romania (Austria, Hungry). Her siblings are:

Elizabeth Molly (Heinz)Steinbeck-1890-1973 (Mead)
Julie Steinbeck

Note: records show that her father made his home with her half-sister Elizabeth and her family for many years until his health started to fail him and he was placed in the care of Alderson Nursing home.
=================================
Margaret, along with her parent's, her father's brother Albert Steinbeck and her sister Elizabeth left Arad, Romania in 1907 heading to Breman or Hamburg to get photo's and passports and a medical examination so they could come to America. Margaret, who was 18 months at the time and her mother had to stay behind because of some health issue that Anne had which was either High Blood Pressure or Tuberculosis. The rest of the family was granted passage and on they went to America.

Margaret and her mother lived in a small 3 room house with her nephew Jacob (Elizabeth's son who was sent back to Romania from America by their father) with an older man and his daughter. In 1915, her mother lived one week after having a stroke and was buried down the road from where they had lived. Margaret was sent to live with her Aunt Racie, her fathers youngest sister and her nephew was sent to live with her mom's brother John Tasch.

On January 25, 1925, Margaret left home to come to America and arrived at Ellis Island on February 3/4, 1925. Her name graces the Wall on Ellis Island as well. She stayed in Pittsburgh, Pa with family for two weeks and then headed to Alderson, West Virginia and arrived on March 3, 1925 where she was once again re-united with her father after 20 years and he took her to his home on Flat Top Mountain where his land bordered The Rookstool Property.

Margaret met her future husband (Henry Earl Rookstool) at the wake of his brother Bert Rookstool. Margaret went to church with him and she converted to Christianty from Cathlic and her father denounced her saying she turned her back on her. How sad.

Margaret married her husband Henry Earl Rookstool on September 3, 1929, three years after arriving in America. Together, they had nine children, eight daughters and one son.
