Cora M. Schindler Johnson, 93, of the Pleasant View Nursing Home in Monroe, formerly of Monroe and the Argyle-Blanchardville area, died Tuesday, February 20, 1996 in the Pleasant View Nursing Home. She was born September 13, 1902 in Cross Plains, the daughter of Lewis and Catherine (Pick) Walford. She attended the Cross Plains Catholic School. On February 8, 1921 she married Arthur T. Schindler in Blanchardville. Cora farmed with Arthur in the Argyle-Blanchardville area. They moved to Monroe in 1958. Arthur died on January 21, 1961. She married Ernest Johnson in Darlington on August 10, 1962. Ernest died on January 19, 1989. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Ladies Sodality.
Survivors include two daughters, LaVera (Frank) Hall, Brodhead and Arlene Foltz, Rockford, Illinois; one daughter-in-law, Donna Schindler, Monroe; one sister-in-law, Cecelia Walford, Verona; nineteen grandchildren, forty great-grandchildren and twelve great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arthur; her husband, Ernest; one son, Delbert who died on August 5, 1994; one son-in-law, Robert Foltz who died on January 19, 1992; one great-grandson, Daniel Thommen; and one brother, Bert.
Funeral services were held Saturday, February 24 in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Blanchardville. Fr. Leopold Gleissner officiated with burial in the Calvary Cemetery, Blanchardville.
