He was a 1957 graduate of Wabash High School and was a Technical Sergeant Morse Code instructor at Keesler Air Force Base, Biloxi, MS 20 years, retiring in 1981. He worked at Bulldog Battery, Wabash, since 1985. He was a member of the Wabash American Legion Post 15, and a member of the Indiana Sheriffs' Association.
Survivors include his wife, Christine, of Wabash; sons Gary (Donna) and Mark (Holly) Koerner, all of Wabash; a sister, Mrs. Buddy (Joann) Hettmansperger of Wabash; grandchildren Spencer, Sara, Cassie, and Megan Koerner, all of Wabash, IN.
