Jay Patrick Weis, 42, of San Jose, Calif., and Marysville [OH] died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999, in San Jose with his wife and brother by his side.
He is survived by his wife, Janet and "Bear," his parents, Rick and Marilyn Weis of Marysville; and brothers, Joel Weis of San Jose, Calif., and Judd Weis of Fayetteville, Ark.
A former naval aviator, chief of Prosthetics and Sensory Aids-Palo Alto, VA Hospital, and manager of Prosthetic Services for health care systems in Northern California, Nevada, Hawaii, and Manila, he most recently was the executive director of the Paralyzed Veterans of America, Bay Area Chapter. He was a member of Governor Wilson's Council in Physical Fitness and Sports and served on the Board of Directors for the Greater San Hose Inner-City games.
A gifted leader, Eagle Scout, and inspiration to all that knew him, his passions included family, friends, flying and fun.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Los Altos United Methodist Church with a reception following. Burial will be in the Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery Los Altos.
