Cynthia Yvonne Henke, 66, of Vermillion, SD died February 13, 2013 at her home.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Monday, February 18, 2013 at Concordia Lutheran Church in Vermillion, SD. Burial will follow in Bluffview Cemetery at Vermillion. Visitation will be from 5 to 7pm, Sunday, February 17, 2013 with a prayer service beginning at 7:00pm at Concordia Lutheran Church.
Cynthia Kahler was born March 8, 1946 in Hawarden, Iowa. She was active in the Civil Air Patrol while attending Vermillion High School, graduating in 1964. She then attended Stewarts School of Hair Styling in Sioux Falls, SD. She worked as a beautician for many years and later managed in home day care for several years. She eventually retired from Food Services at the University of South Dakota.
Cynthia is survived by her husband Harlan of Vermillion, sons; Charles of Sioux City, IA, David of Golden, CO and daughter, Christine Henke of Sioux City, IA, also three brothers; Vernon (Helen) Kahler of Rocky Mount, NC, Raymond (Dona) Kahler of Mesa, AZ, Kenneth (Jacque) Kahler of Yankton, SD and one sister Shirley (Gil) Vasquez of San Diego, CA, six grandchildren; Patricia & Shannon Carlough, Casey (JoHanna), Kai, Layfe, and Trey Henke and one great-granddaughter Lilleigh Henke.
She was preceded in death by her mother Frieda Kahler and one brother Donald Kahler.
