Shirley Kwiatkowski, 76, of Owego, passed away on Tuesday, May 29, 2007, at home. Mrs. Kwiatkowski was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Floyd Kwiatkowski; son, John Kwiatkowski; daughter, Denise Kwiatkowski; brother, William O'Brien. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Dr. David and Kim Kwiatkowski, Apalachin, Karen and Art Rider, Apalachin, Anne-Marie Mott, Owego, Philip and Robin Kwiatkowski, Owego; seven grandchildren, Jessica, Andrew, Meghann, Justin, Katherine, Danielle, Johnna; two great-grandsons, Dominick and Caleb; sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Rudy Bystricky, Owego; uncle and aunt, Bruce and Freda Baker; several nieces and nephews. Shirley worked as a telephone operator, Owego/Apalachin School "Pink Prison" as an overall aide and was the bookkeeper for the Flemingville General Store and Lawler's Grocery Store. She deeply loved her family and enjoyed entertaining family and friends at the family home. Shirley enjoyed reading, swimming and gambling.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 1, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, Owego, with the Rev. William Moorby officiating. Burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park St., Owego. Memorial contributions may be made in Shirley Kwiatkowski's memory to the John A. Kwiatkowski Memorial Scholarship Fund, C/O OFA School District, 36 Talcott St., Owego, N.Y. 13827.
