FUNERAL OF CHRIS BECKER

The funeral of Chris Becker, who died last Thursday morning, was held from St. Matthew's Catholic Church Monday morning at 10 o'clock, Rev. Father July singing High Mass. The church was filled to its capacity by the many friends of the deceased, who came to pay their last respects and to thus offer their consolation to his family. The New Cassel Branch, Catholic Knights of Wisconsin, of which Mr. Becker was a member and many Knights from Kewaskum, St. Kilian and Ashford attended the services in a body and marched to the Union cemetery, where interment took place.

Mr. Becker was born on the old Becker homestead just south of this village, fifty-nine years ago and was widely known throughout this community, having lived here all his life. He was highly respected by a large circle of friends and ac1uaintances and was a familiar figure at stock fairs held in this community as he was a shrewd stock dealer.

Besides the many friends from out of town who attended the funeral, the following relatives from afar were present: Henry and Louis Brenner of Ellsworth, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Jake Martin and daughter Cecelia, and William Becker of Cudahy; C. Becker and family, Fredonia; Mr. and Mrs. Math Becker, Mrs. Margaret Becker and sons Theodore and Jake, Henry and Mary Schoofs of West Bend; Theo Schoofs and family of Kewaskum; Wm Jaeger, Sr. and wife, Joseph Berg and family, Mrs. K. Serwe and family, Bert Jaeger, William Hall and wife, Barthol Jaeger and family, Martin Jaeger and wife, Adam Jaeger and wife, Peter Jaeger and wife, Willie Jaeger, Jr. all of Ashford; Andrew Strachota and wife, Philip Beisbier and wife, and John Flasch and family of St. Kilian; Frank Wietor and wife of Wayne; and Mrs. Belle Kraus of Plymouth.

The pallbearers were Wm. Kaehne, Joseph Volz, John Graveldinger, John F. Schrauth, George Straub and Nick Thill.
