Reginald I. Jonak, 74, of Ashton died Saturday, March 12, 2005, at Valley County Nursing Home in Ord.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Josaphat's Catholic Church in Loup City. The Rev. Louis A. Nollette will officiate. Burial will be in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery at Paplin.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the church, with a 7:30 vigil service. Peters Funeral Home in Loup City is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Jonak was born July 19, 1930, on the family farm near Paplin to Joseph J. and Cashmere (Stanczyk) Jonak.

Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Adeline; six sons and three daughters-in-law, Dean and Rose Jonak of Ord, Edward and Tamra Jonak of Loup City, Ron Jonak of Loup City, Gerald Jonak of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Ken Jonak of Minden, and Kevin and Angie Jonak of Elm Creek; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Barbara and Dave Tuma of Elba, Virginia and Ron Barth of Wakefield,
Kan., Donna and Dennis Wardyn of Loup City and Sandy Jonak of Kearney; a sister, Luana Salerno of Omaha; and three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Virgil and Marilyn Jonak of Idaho, Delbert and Renee Jonak of Ashton and Emmanuel Jonak of Idaho.

Other survivors include Ken Jonak's special friend, Tina Sayers, of Minden; 19 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and three great-stepgrandchildren.

Reginald grew up on the family farm and attended Howard County rural schools. Upon completing his education he farmed with his family.

He served in the U.S. Army in 1952. He then returned to the Paplin area.

He was united in marriage to Adeline A. Waskowiak Nov. 13, 1954, at Loup City. The couple farmed their entire married life east of Paplin. He was a very active father and grandpa who enjoyed spending time with his family.

He loved playing cards, carpentry work, bowling, going to auctions, playing on the Farwell softball town team and sports.

His greatest joy in life was polka dancing.

He was a member of St. Josaphat's Catholic Church and a former member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus Council No. 1918 of St. Paul.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Lambert Jonak.
