Gordan Hadley Cantonwine was born on January 24, 1930 in Seattle, Washington, the son of Margaret Narcissa (Compton) (Hadley) Cantonwine (1911–1998) and her 1st husband Gordon Aubrey Hadley. After Gordan was born, his parent were divorced, and his mother was married 2nd in 1935 to Melvin Elbert Cantonwine (1910–1973), who adopted Gordan as his own son.

Gordan's lifelong passion of photography was discovered when he was just a young boy. A born entrepreneur, he opened his first photography studio while still in high school.

To further his knowledge, Gordan enlisted in the US Navy as a photographer during the Korean Conflict, and his first assignment was on the aircraft carrier Oriskany. After five years of service, he left the military to pursue a film career in Hollywood, California. The entrepreneurial spirit never left Gordan, and he worked for himself until his retirement in 2004.

In 1960, Gordan married the love of his life, Beverly, and together they raised a family of five children. The love of travel that started during his Navy career continued with Beverly, and together they visited numerous countries. Friends, children and grandchildren often accompanied them on these trips and made memories that will be cherished. When it came to his family, no accomplishment was too small to be celebrated and no challenge too great to be conquered.

Living in Huntington Beach, California, Gordan was 83 7ears old when he died on February 20, 2013 following a thirteen-month battle with pancreatic cancer.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Joy and grandson Chad, while survivors included his widow, two daughters, two sons, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services were held on March 5th at Saints Simon and Jude Church in Huntington Beach, and burial was in Pacific View Memorial Park in Corona del Mar.
