George F. Ziemer, a longtime Wykoff banker, died Friday [August 26, 1982] morning at Spring Valley Hospital, where he had been a patient for two days.

He had been a resident of the Ostrader Nursing Home since June.

He was born May 16, 1895, at Dunnell, Minn. and grew up in that area. He was a graduate of the Academy of Gustavus in St. Peter. He married Lois Murphy of Kasson Nov. 28, 1918, at Kasson and was employed by a bank in Ceylon, Minn.

He moved to Wykoff in 1931 and in 1932 he opened the First State Bank of Wykoff, where he was executive vice president and managing officer. He retired in 1958 and in 1960 moved to Spring Valley. He returned to Wykoff in 1974.

He was a member of the Minnesota Bankers Association and the Fillmore County Bankers Association.

He is survived by his wife Lois; a son, Robert G. Ziemer of Brooklyn Park; two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Ione Margaret) Alred of Brainerd and Mrs. Wendell (Barbara) Stender of Wykoff; a foster daughter, Mrs. Glenn (Grace) Mitchell of Zumbro Falls; eight granchildren and eight great-granndchildren. He was preceded in death by six sisters and eight brothers.

The funeral was Monday at United Methodist Church in Wykoff, the Rev. Gerald Stoppel officiating. Burial was in Wykoff city cemetery.

Pallbears were Armin Niemeyer, Alfred Schoeder, Louis Schmidt, Walter Schwier, Alvin Shaw and Jerry Giordano.

Honorary pallbears were Raymond Schwier, George Stender, Joe Wojtkiewicz, John Osterud, Fred Bicknese and Ralph Townsend.
