Services for Mailande Elizabeth "Peg" Martin Vise will be held today at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church with the Revs. Dr. Rhett G. Payne III, Richard M. Vise Jr. and Robert H. Horel officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Vise, 92, of Meridian, died Sunday, April 30, 2006, in her home. She was a native of Meridian and was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Monroe Martin. She graduated from Meridian High School and attended Mississippi University for Women. She married Dr. Guy Thompson Vise Sr. in 1938.

She was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church. Her love for the Lord was demonstrated by her service in many areas of church life. She was a member of the Junior Auxiliary of Meridian and was chosen queen of the Junior Auxiliary Mardi Gras Ball in 1965. She was also chose DeMolay Mom.

Mrs. Vise belonged to Northwood Garden Club and supported the Meridian Museum of Art and The Meridian Little Theatre. She and her husband were active in the East Mississippi Medical Society, The Mississippi State Medical Association and Southern Medical Association.

She had a love for people and welcomed many to their home and was known as a gracious hostess, but her ultimate dedication was to her husband, five children, 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Dr. Guy Thompson Vise Sr.; sons, Dr. Guy T. Vise Jr. and his wife, Margaret; Dr. William Michael Vise and his wife, Annette, of Jackson, James Murray Vise of Atlanta and Dr. Richard Martin Vise and his wife, Betty, of Meridian; a daughter, Mailande Vise Turner of Pensacola, Fla.; grandchildren, Dr. Guy T. Vise III, James Wilbourn Vise and his wife, Heather, all of Jackson, Francis Marion Turner IV and his wife, Kimberly, of Arlington, Va., Murray Vise Turner and his wife, Paula, of New Orleans, Martin Montgomery Turner and his wife, Bidney of Collierville, Tenn., Rachel Annette Vise and Mailande Alexandra Vise, both of Jackson, Richard Martin Vise Jr. and his wife, Amy, of Auburn, Ala., Duncan Brookshire Vise and his wife, Grace, of Houston, Texas, Mailande Elizabeth Vise of Birmingham, Ala., and Rachel Adelle Vise Adams and her husband, Bailey, of Jackson and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters and one brother.

Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 911 23rd. Ave. Meridian, MS 39305.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and grandson-in-law. Visitation will be today one hour prior to the service at the church.
