Mr. Beckmann was a 1978 graduate of Platte Canyon High School, where teacher Mary Ann Bolton said, "He was a star of his class." He was active in many school and community activities, especially the melodrama theater in the area. He usually played the villan.
Mr. Beckmann designed the original "Bailey Day" logo that hangs in front of Entriken Cabin in Bailey. He also painted the Husky logo in the old gymnasium at Platte Canyon High School.
He attended the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley and was a 1982 graduate of Denver University.
At the onset of his illness, Mr. Beckmann worked Human Resources at Life Insurance Company of Denver.
Survivors include his mother and step-father, Marge and John Fialkowski of Bailey; father and step-mother, Gunther and Lolly Beckmann of Lopez island WA.; sisters, Beth Hebrank of Denver and Jenny Beckmann of Washington; brother, Glenn Beckmann of Bailey. He also leaves many stepbrothers and sisters, aunts, uncles, a grandmother and grandfather.
