Cornelius Paul Rolwing, Age 90, a resident of Charleston, died Thursday, June 16, 2011 at the Charleston Manor.
Born October 23, 1920, in the Texas Bend Community of Mississippi County, Missouri, to the late Paul Lawrence and Elizabeth Margaret Wessels Rolwing, he had lived in Texas Bend and Charleston his entire life. A graduate of the St. Henry Catholic High School, he was a member of the St. Henry Catholic Church, a lifetime charter member of the Knights of Columbus Council #3282, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4294 and the Burtonwood Association.
An electrician by trade, he served his loyal customers for over 60 years as Rolwing Electric Company. He was a Veteran of The Army Air Corps, having served in World War II. On February 25, 1946, he married Dorothy Catherine Halter, who survives.
Also surviving are: three sons and daughters in law, Dennis and Mary Ann Rolwing; Don and Brenda Rolwing, MO; and Phil and Candy Rolwing; three daughters and two sons in law, Linda and Ronnie Estes; Karen and Omer Clark and Debbie Rolwing; one son in law, Dave Seyer; two brothers, Monsignor Richard Rolwing and Bob and Joyce Rolwing; one sister Mary and Bill Belviy; one sister in law Mary Jo Rolwing; 12 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Jane Rolwing Seyer; two brothers and one sister in law, Albert Rolwing and Herman and Helen Rolwing and by two grandsons, William Rolwing and Derek Estes.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Sunday, June 19, 2011 at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where a prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 20, 2011 at the St. Henry Catholic Church in Charleston. Monsignor Richard Rolwing of Cape Girardeau, will serve as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery near Charleston with full military honors provided by the Missouri Military Honors Program. Pallbearers will be: Paul Estes, Josh Tyson, Codi Rolwing Jason Estes, J. Stortz and Larry Rolwing. Memorials may be made to: St. Henry Catholic School 306 Court Street Charleston, Mo., 63834
