Louanna Clark was born in Waukesha, Wis. in 1925, where she grew up with her brother Tedd and her parents Mildred and Lothar Raue. She had a very happy childhood and life. She always loved reading, playing games, swimming, traveling and being with friends and family. When she was a child, her family spent summers at the family cottage off Lake Waupaca in Wisconsin. For someone who loved swimming, this was the ideal summer holiday. Snow was always a favorite, too.

Louanna went to Carroll College in Waukesha, where she met the love of her life, Artie, on Feb. 4, 1943. A group of her sorority sisters made a bet to see who could get the first date with the newly arrived soldiers. Louanna won the bet! They dated and quickly fell in love. On Aug. 8, 1944, they were married at Niagara Falls, N.Y. Civilians were not allowed to ride trains during this time due to WWII, but because Louanna worked for the Civil Air Patrol, she was allowed to take the train to Niagara Falls to meet Artie.

Artie was in the Army Air Corps, so they moved quite frequently. They lived in California, Texas, Ohio and Arizona. Because of all the different places they lived, they made many lifelong friends. Louanna worked in the personnel department for the Flying Tigers in Burbank, Calif. During that time, they were privileged enough to attend the very first "I Love Lucy" show, along with numerous other shows.

Eventually they settled in Phoenix, Ariz., where they had their two daughters, Sandy and Nancy. Louanna became a teacher, which she enjoyed for many years. She was also active in many clubs and liked to play bridge. Artie built them a home in Fairfield, Idaho, where they spent their summers for 37 years. It was a favorite place for them. They spent much time with friends, driving around looking at animals and scenery, fishing and going to nearby Sun Valley Lodge. Many of those Idaho summers were spent with their grandchildren Michelle and Sherri.

The past three and a half years they have lived at Prescott Valley Samaritan Center, where they have been loved and cared for. It was there that she passed peacefully away on Feb. 28, 2012, with her beloved husband Artie and her daughter Nancy by her side. Louanna was 86 years old. She now is with her Lord and Savior! God blessed us with this beautiful and lovely lady. She was a blessing to all who knew her.

Louanna is survived by her husband Artie; daughters Nancy and Sandy; and granddaughters Michelle and Sherri.

A memorial service will be 3:30 p.m. Monday, March 5, 2012, at Prescott Valley Samaritan Center. In lieu of flowers, do something nice for someone in her memory and enjoy life as she always did.

Services were entrusted to Heritage Memory Mortuary. Please visit www.heritagemortuary.com to sign Louanna's online guestbook.
