Konrad Groskopf
Konrad Groskopf, a son of Johannes Groskopf and his wife Katharina nee Kissler was born on 8 October 1889 in the German colony Frank in the Volga area in Russia, where he was also baptized by Pastor Roos and confirmed by Pastor Somelt.
In 1907 he came to America and in 1911 he married Anna Kammerzell in Grand Island, Nebraska.
Six sons and four daughters were born to this marriage, of whom two daughters preceded the father in death.
Brother Groskopf was for many years a loyal, industrious fellow worker of our Emmanuels Congregation in Scottsbluff, to which church he and the entire family belonged. He served several years as superintendent of Sunday school, administrator and treasurer.
The Lord called him. quickly and unexpectedly from his work into Eternity. On August 25 in the evening between 7 and 8 o'clock he died of a heart attack in a field near the house on his farm northwest of Scottsbluff. In 1924 he had accepted the Saviour, to whom he remained loyal. His age was 51 years, 10 months and 17 days. On 28 August 28 he was laid to rest in the Fairview Cemetery at Scottsbluff.
He is mourned by his dear wife, six sons and two daughters, namely Ruben in Minnesota, Raymond, Reynold, Helen, Frieda, Walter, Wilhelm and Richard still with the mother, five grandchildren, two brothers, Johannes near Mitchell, Nebraska and Georg near Gering, Nebraska, two sisters, Mrs. Marie Weiss near Scottsbluff, Nebraska and Mrs. Katharine Glantz near Sidney, Nebraska, one aunt, Mrs. Katharine Elisabeth Stroh in Scottsbluff and by a large number of other relatives and close friends.
May the Lord bless the mourners richly with his consolation! Text for the funeral in German:
Isaih 55, 8—9; in English, 1 Samuel 20, 18 and 25.
