Affiliated with the YMCA. From 1908 until his retirement Sept.1,1942, he was its physical-education director in the period from 1910.
He was one of the instigators of basketball in the area when the old YMCA was on Penn Street had no floor. He also introduced the game to the Olivet Boys Clubs.
Directed Camp,
For 30 years, Felix directed the YMCA Camp at Earlville, one of the camp's developers, he initiated annual indoor circuses in 1924 to finance the camp and help underprivileged children in Reading. The circus series ended in 1942.
A swimming instructor for most of the time he spent with the association, he taught early classes in the Schuylkill River as the YMCA then lacked a pool.
Prior to joining the YMCA staff, Felix was a tackle and halfback on the first football team of Schuylkill Seminary, the forerunner of Albright College in Reading.
Felix, who had been last employed as a Berks County Courthouse elevator operator before retiring. He received the Reading Exchange Club's Golden Deeds Award in 1963 for his work with youth.

A former deacon of Berean Baptist Church, he was a member of the Reading Bean Club, the International Assn. of Reading YMCA Secretaries and the Reading and Berks Basketball Old-Times.
