Mary was born August 27, 1899, near Tappen, North Dakota, to Wilhelm and Mary Greggerson Briese. She attended school at the Charley Roberts Farm and the Dawson School. She moved to Bismarck and later to Milwaukee, Wisconsin and worked as an elevator operator. She returned to the Tappen area and worked for the Café.
She married Carl Falk at the family farm near Tappen, North Dakota on June 15, 1921. Mr. Falk died December 17, 1973. They farmed near Embden, North Dakota for one year. In 1922 they moved to the Tappen area where they farmed until retiring in 1952. They moved to Tappen where she worked for the Ritz Café and did home nursing for a number of elderly Tappen residents. In 1968 they moved to Medina, North Dakota.
