---This is believed to be Detliff Ferdinand Garms who was born in Poppenhusen (near Wohrden) Schleswig, Germany (North of Hamburg) the son of Detlef Garms and Telsche [ Hinrich ] Garms and grandson of Johann Garms and Catherine Nee [Butenop] Garms who lived and died in Schleswig, Germany. His siblings are believed to be Anna Catharina Garms - 1829, and Margaretha Dorothea (Margaret) Garms [ Speck ] -1836. Catharina (Lena] died during the crossing of the North Atlantic in 1864 on the way to America and was buried at sea.

---Detlif married Amelia Kathleen( Molly) Peters April 9, 1867 in McLean County Ill.. They had two children: Anna (Annie) Kate Garms [ Schulze ] -1867 and Adolph Ferdinand Garms in 1882.

---1900 Census shows him and his 17- year old son Adolph living with Anna K. Schulze and family in/near Bangs, Texas at that time. He died the following year.
