Roger Mohr, 76, of Washington, was called home to be with our Lord on March 19, 2013. A celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 23, 2013, in Friedens United Church of Christ in Washington with Pastor Greg Felder officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

Roger was born at home in Washington, Texas, to the late Walter A. and Hilda Krueger Mohr, one of seven children. He was baptized and confirmed at Friedens United Church of Christ in Washington. Roger graduated from Brenham High School and then served four years in the U.S. Air Force as a radio code breaker.

He married Laverne Meyer, the mother of his children: Cynthia Ann James and Roger Alan Mohr. He later married Anna Burton Elley in 1975 at Friedens United Church of Christ in Washington and welcomed her four children as his own. These children became brothers and sisters and never referred to as step-children but as his own. He loved all of the children and they loved him.

Roger was rancher, farmer, tractor mechanic, and retired in 2003 from Ewald Tractor in Seguin. Roger and Anna then moved to Washington on part of the Mohr family farm where Roger grew up. He maintained constant communication with his sisters and brothers who lived nearby. Roger was a wonderful husband and father. As an avid gardener he started a pecan and fruit orchard.

Roger was very active in church and he was on the church council. Roger really enjoyed and looked forward to playing cards and dominoes with his family, friends and fellow church members. One of his favorite activities was playing chicken foot domino at the church with his fellow church members.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna; brother, Walter "Jack" Mohr and wife, Pat; brothers-in-law, Barry Rust and Sam Lanham; niece, Peggy Sue "Suze" Mohr.

Survivors include daughters, Cynthia Ann James and Tom Harmon, Cindy Lee Preacher and husband, Roger, and Sandra Ann McCraw and husband, Greg; sons, Roger Alan Mohr and Teddi Young, Clarence "Sonny" V.
