July 30, 1906 - January 23, 2003
Amelia "Mollie" Schmalz, age 96, of Delta, died Thursday, January 23, 2003, at Willowtree Nursing Home of Delta, CO.
She was born July 30, 1906, in Marionburg, Russia, to John and Anna Schmaltz. She married Anthony J. Schmalz Sr. on December 25, 1925, in Montrose, CO, and they raised four children together.
In life, Mollie was a loving mother and homemaker, she also worked for Skyland Foods for 20 years. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society.Her main interests were her church and
family, fishing and gardening.
She is survived by her son, Bill Schmalz and his wife, Connie, of Grand Junction, CO; her daugher, Virginia Ritter of Grand Junction; two daughters-in-law, Patsy June Schmalz of Grand Junction, and Barbara Schmalz of Delta; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by both her parents; her husband, Anthony; her sons, Tony J. Schmalz Jr. and Donald J. Schmalz; her son-in-law, Jack Ritter; her two brothers; and her five sisters.
Memorial donations, in memory of Mollie, may be made to: St. Michael's Catholic Church, 628 Meeker, Delta, CO, 81416.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 28, 2003, at 12 noon at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Delta. Burial will follow at Delta CIty Cemetery. A Rosary Vigil will be held Monday, January 27, 2003, at 7 p.m. at Mesa
View Mortuary Chapel in Delta.
