FALL CREEK — Irvin Lange, 97, of 110 W. McKinley Ave. died Monday, April 4, 2005, at the Fall Creek Valley Care Center.

Irvin Lange, son of Adolph and Caroline (Erdman) Lange was born Nov. 7, 1907, in Ludington township, Eau Claire County. He was baptized at St. James Lutheran Church in Fall Creek and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in the town of Seymour. He was united in marriage to Grace Lillian Kersten on Dec. 26, 1932, in Fall Creek. For the first few years of their married life they traveled to Texas, where until the depression hit, Irvin worked on dam and bridge construction. They returned to Eau Claire County and purchased a farm in the town of Wilson. Having the urge to roam, they later bought 40 acres on Lake Vermillion, near Cumberland. They farmed this land, but Irvin also built cabins around the lake, turning it into a resort area where they also rented out boats, and had a site where they sold refreshments and ice to the customers. In 1945, they returned to the Lange family farm in Ludington. In 1971, they retired and moved to Ashland to relax and fish by Lake Superior. After 18 years, they returned to Fall Creek to be near family and friends. While farming, Irvin served on the board of the Midland Supply Co-op. It was at this time that he helped establish and became a charter member of the Fall Creek Credit Union. He served on the Conservation Congress for Eau Claire County for 18 years, and at this time also served on some state committees. Irvin was a great sportsman who loved to hunt and fish. He enjoyed belonging to sportsman clubs wherever he lived.

He is survived by his daughter, Sylvia (Willis) Meyer of Fall Creek; son, William (Renee) Lange of Fall Creek; brother, Leonard Lange of Eau Claire; sisters-in-law, Rose Lange, of Fall Creek, Audrey Otto of Osseo, Irene Kersten of the Fall Creek Valley Care Center; nine grandchildren, Kurt (Robin) Norby, Kris (Joanna) Norby, Gene (Cheryl) Meyer, Jim (Sandra) Meyer, Jerry Meyer and friend Jane Conner, Janice (Tom) Snider, Tania Lange and fiancé, Allen Roberts, Tiffany Watkins, William Lange and friend Jenny Regenauer; 17 great- grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and their families.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1972; mother in 1953; wife Grace on March 11, 2005; daughter, Hazel (Gene) Norby, granddaughter, Kathy Norby; siblings, Ida and Victor Lange both in infancy; and brother, Archie Lange on Dec. 18, 1999.

Funeral services will be Thursday, April 7, 2005, at 11 a.m. at St. James Trinity Lutheran Church in Fall Creek, with Pastor Douglas Brandt officiating. Burial will be in the Fall Creek Trinity Cemetery.
