Elaine (Martin) Jerger left with the angels to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, March 25, 2013 from the Longmont United Hospital in Longmont, Colorado after enduring a severe health issue. She battled and survived breast cancer for over three and a half years and always considered herself to be a fighter and a survivor.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 6, 2013 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Scottsbluff, Nebraska with Fr. Vince Parsons and Fr. Stephen Deaver as co-celebrants. Inurnment will follow at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering. The family will welcome guests from 5-7 p.m. Friday, April 5, at Jolliffe Funeral Home in Scottsbluff. A rosary will begin at 6 p.m. Friday, also at the funeral home. Cremation has taken place in accordance with Elaine's wishes. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her honor to the Rocky Mountain Cancer Assistance or the Platte Valley Museum. The full obituary may be viewed by visiting www.jolliffefuneralhome.com.

Elaine was a daughter to Herman and Norma (Boyce) Martin. She was born in Alliance, Nebraska May 10, 1955 and moved with her family at an early age to Lingle, Wyoming. They moved to Torrington, Wyoming her senior year, where she was a cheerleader at Torrington High School from which she graduated in 1973. After high school, she graduated from Eastern Wyoming College at Huntley School of Cosmetology. Elaine married Rodney Jerger on July 31, 1977 and had two sons, Joshua and Lance.

Elaine worked at many beauty shops in Torrington, Scottsbluff, and Gering throughout her 21 years in cosmetology. She became a manager of the Scottsbluff Sally Beauty Supply store in February 2000. Elaine moved to Colorado in March of 2003 and managed the Superior and Longmont stores. She won numerous awards for her service and sales records.

Throughout her life, she enjoyed many activities and still holds the Torrington High School 440 track record, in addition to being a member and leader of the 4-H Club in the area. Elaine played softball for the Lingle & Torrington women's fast pitch team and was a member of the 1969 Wyoming State Champion softball team. She enjoyed bowling as well and earning herself a spot in the 600 Club.

Over the years, Elaine enjoying watching her son's participation in Little League Baseball and their involvement with the Odyssey of the Minds and watching her Grandson grow. Elaine was an avid fan of the Nebraska Huskers, Denver Broncos football and Rockies baseball teams. She particularly enjoyed a trek up the hill to try her luck at Blackhawk.

Elaine was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary 0063 for 53 years and Women of the Moose. She spent a short time in the Wyoming National Guard after graduating high school and was honorably discharged. Elaine was just a great friend to all!

Elaine will be greatly missed by her husband, two sons and daughter-in-laws, and Grandson, three sisters, two brothers, brother-in-law, and mother-in-law, along with many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; nieces, Leslie Jill Shoemaker and Amber I. Nehl; and brother-in-law, Roger L. Frahm.
