Robert E. Muenchow, aged 81, a native of this city died at the Fond du Lac hospital last Monday after an extended illness.

The deceased was born in this city on Nov. 19, 1863, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Muenchow, early settlers of this city.

He was married in 1888 to Miss Estella Lanners of this city, who survives. The couple had one son, Leander, who died in 1904, while serving with the Marines.

The deceased together with A. L. Gordon erected the Music Block, the building now owned by the Wisconsin Telephone Co. The upper floor of the building was then occupied by Lamoreux & Husting. Dr. E. H. Albrecht and Dr. W. J. Schmidt. The main floor was used by Mr. Muenchow for his musical instruments and bicycle store.

After the Spanish-American war he acquired a small plantation on the Isle of Pines, south of Cuba, where Mr. and Mrs. Muenchow lived until 1914 when they moved to Fond du Lac, where they have since resided.

Funeral services were held last Wednesday at Fond du Lac with burial in the old St. Mary's cemetery.
