John W. (Bill) Foell, 71, of Gladwin, died suddenly Sunday, July 28, 1996 at MidMichigan Regional Medical Center - Gladwin.
Born Sept. 14, 1924 in Clare, he resided in Gladwin since moving from Clare. Mr. Foell owned and operated Foell Well Drilling. He was a member of the Gladwin County Planning Commission, Gladwin Area VFW Post 11256 and Gladwin County American Legion Post 171. In addition, he served as board chairman of the Gladwin Rural-Urban Fire Department and was the Sage Township zoning supervisor.
Mr. Foell married the former Arlene Winn Jan. 21, 1950 in Angola, Ind.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his stepmother, Ruth Foell of Clare; 2 sisters, Virginia and Clare Maxwell of Clare, and Alice and Jerry Dillon of Oregon; 2 brothers, Gordon and June Foell of Clare, and Russell and Mary Foell of Washington; and one stepbrother, the Rev. Donald Roberts of Gladwin. He was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Mabel Ann Hawkins on Dec. 6, 1967.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday) from the Hall Funeral Home, Gladwin chapel. The Rev. Donald Potter and the Rev. Donald Roberts will officiate and burial will be in the Arthur Township Cemetery, Clare County. A VFW service was conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
