Mr. John Jennings Goodwin, age 74, passed away Saturday, September 29, 2012 at the Georgetown Memorial Hospital after an illnesss.

Born in the family home, in the Brightsville Community of Marlboro County, SC, on October 30, 1937, he was the son of the late Frank G. Goodwin, Sr. and Nora Bundy Goodwin. He retired from Mohawk Industries (Oak River Mills) after 38 years of dedicated service and was a member of the Marlboro Park Senior Circle. Mr. Jennings was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church in Bennettsville and served as a Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent. He will be remembered for his kind spirit and devoted service to his church.

He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Douglas Goodwin of Bennettsville; sisters, Willie Edith Boan of Bennettsville and Mildred Gray of Bennettsville; a brother, Jim Goodwin and wife Frances of Anderson, SC; also 2 special grandchildren, Seth & Bethany McCormick of Georgetown, SC.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at Burroughs Cooper Kiser Funeral Home with burial following in Stubbs Cemetery. Family visitation will be held from 1-2 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Goodwin was preceded in death by his parents listed above; a brother, Frank D. Goodwin, Jr.; a sister, Alice G. McDuffie; and 4 step-sisters, Annie Mae Shiels, Margaret Shiels, Hazel Peele and Martha Thurmond.
