Ernest Christian Behm, 59, of Gardiner, a Town of Plattekill highway department employee, was crushed to death about 3 p.m. Friday when the body of a dump truck fell as he was making an adjustment.
Mr. Behm had been employed as a chauffeur by the township since March 1.
He lived with a sister Emma Behm, in Gardiner.
Sgt. E.E. Winkky of Highland state police investigated with the coroner.
He was born in Hyde Park March 3, 1899, son of the late Louis and Hannah Brooks Behm. For a number of years he worked as manager of a fruit farm in the Gardiner section.
Funeral services were held at Gordon Pine Funeral Home, Inc., New Paltz, at 2 p.m. Monday with burial in the New Paltz Rural Cemetery.
