From Hazleton PA Plain Speaker, Mon. Feb. 8, 1937:
Karl M. Briese, aged 71 years, passed away Sunday morning at the home of his son, Peter Briese, at 20 North Vine street, city, where he had been making his home. He had been ailing for the past several months. Mr. Briese, who was a landscape gardener by trade, had been a resident of St. Louis for the past fifteen years, but before that time he had been employed at the former Seager's flour and feed mill on North Laurel street. He was a life member of the Diamond Fire Company.

Surviving is his widow, and the following children: Peter Briese, Anna Yocum, Charles Briese, of Hazleton; Mrs. Wheeler Buff, of Nuangola; Mrs. Lewis Schietrumpf, Conyngham Pass; Amelia, Martha, William and Alvin, at home; two brothers, William Briese, of Sheldon, Ia., and Paul Briese, of Pasadena, Cal. Twenty grandchildren also survive.

The funeral will be held from the late residence at 29 North Vine street, Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment will be made in the Vine street cemetery.

Son Charles H. Briese died July 16, 1984 in Jacksonville, FL. A Florida funeral director was in charge of arrangements. No burial location was given.
