Grandma Mammenga died at the home of her son Tonjes Mammenga Tuesday morning June 4th. Deceased was 78 years of age and had been in failing health for some time and the end did not come unexpected.

For the last four months she has been suffering with dropsy and, other complication of ailments and her advanced age could not with stand them, and therefore death was welcomed. Mrs. Mammenga was born in Germany and came to America when a young lady. The last 15 years of her life had been spent on the farm east of Matlock, until the,
death of her husband seven years ago, since then, she has made her home here in Matlock and with her children. Short funeral services were held Friday afternoon at two o'clock at the house conducted by Rev. H. Wortman. Services were also held in the church and remains were laid to rest in the Matlock cemetery. Besides a large number of sorrowing friends; the deceased leaves to mourn her death, one son and one daughter; Mrs. John Addengast of near Ashton and Tonjes Mammenga of Matlock and two brothers residing at Belmont and Ackley, la, and to these the heartfelt sympathy of the community is extended.
