Stanley Wallace Buss was born May 4, 1934 in Caroline, Wis., and was the son of the late Walter A. and Amanda O. (Rosenow) Buss. He was a graduate of Marion area schools, and a 1958 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he received a degree from the College of Agriculture. Stub served in the U.S. Army on two occasions from 1957-1963. He was united in marriage to Nancy Nickles on Aug. 23, 1958 at St. Andrew Episcopal Church, Madison, Wis. Stub was a self-employed cheese maker at F.R. Buss & Co., Caroline, from 1959 to 1986 and later worked for the Larson Co./Dean Foods until his retirement in 1996. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Caroline, where he served on the church council and the cemetery association. He also was a member of the Caroline volunteer fire department for 39 years and coached Little League baseball. Stub was a devoted husband, a caring father and grandfather, and a friend that could be counted on by many, many friends. He genuinely cared about people and the communities in which he lived. Stub loved both telling and hearing a good story, and had a way about him that seemed to make every situation just a little bit better. In addition to enjoying time with family and friends, Stub loved nature and found particular joy in watching the birds. He also enjoyed fishing, traveling and watching football, baseball and basketball. Stub will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of over 51 years, Nancy; a daughter, Julie Buss, Madison; a son, Kurt Buss, Lafayette, Colo.; and a son Eric (Gina) Buss, Minneapolis.
