He was a son of Mary Shanefelter Utz of Westminster and the late Paul T. Utz Sr.
Mr. Utz was employed at Red Hill Nursery in Westminster.
Surviving in addition to his mother are one daughter, Jamie D. Gilbert of Sabillasville, MD; one son, Joseph B. Utz of Cascade, MD; one grandson; one brother, Leon Utz of Westminster; and three sisters, Dolores Gentry of Bowie, MD, Susan McAllister of Lanham, MD, and Barbara Topper of Gettysburg.
