Mrs. Ollie Belle Merrick, 82, died Sunday night at the Christian Church Home in Jacksonville where she had resided for five years.

Mrs. Merrick was born at Chillicothe, Missouri June 15, 1879, a daughter of Daniel and Bernetta Spurlock Smith. She attended the Christian Church and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Her marriage to Louis Ray Merrick took place on May 18, 1908, at Ottumwa, Iowa. He preceded her in death on January 12, 1934.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ruby Fitchett of Pleasant Hill and Mrs. Irene Gerdes of Robinson, Kansas; a son, Lewis R. Merrick of Kansas City, Kansas; a sister, Mrs. Charles Brown of Memphis, Tennessee; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A son, Lee Merrick, died in service in 1943.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Ward Funeral Home with the Reverend Joe Maynard of Pittsfield in charge. Burial will be at Crescent Heights Cemetery.
