NEWTON -- Mary Aline Jantz, 88, Newton, died Thursday, Feb. 1, 2001, at Presbyterian Manor, Newton.
Mrs. Jantz was born Mary Sommerfeld on March 27, 1912, at Canton. She was a retired teacher and a member of First Baptist Church of Canton. She was also a member of Kansas State Teachers Association, McPherson County Area Retired Teachers Association, Delta Kappa Gamma Society and Business and Professional Women's Association of McPherson. She was founder of the Alpha Lambda Chapter of McPherson.
Her husband, Arnold, died in 1979.
Survivors include a sister, Rachel Sommerfeld of Canton; a stepson, Arlo Jantz of Prescott, Ariz.; two stepdaughters, Opal Hanson of McPherson and Olive Ubel of Topeka; seven stepgrandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
