Another Old Settler Passes Away
Adolph Miesen was born at Mount Calvary, Wisconsin, May 3rd 1804. He came to Potter County South Dakota in 1890, where he lived on a farm until 1901 when he moved to Lebanon to reside.
He was married to Miss Anna Holzmann on October 11th, 1892, to this union five children were born four boys and one girl.
He passed away at his home in Lebanon South Dakota on Saturday, October 29th, 1923, after a lingering illiness of cancer of the throat.
Funeral Services were held in the Catholic Church in Hoven, Tuesday conducted by Fr. Helembrecht ...the body was laid to rest in Hoven Cemetery.
Deceased leaves to mourn his departure his wife one daughter Miss Irene; three sons, Arthur of Raymond, Peter J. of Zell and Francis of Lebanon; his mother Mrs Mary Miessen of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin; two brothers Peter Miessen of Fairbanks, Nebraska and Frank Miessen of Soperton, Wisconsin; six sisters, Mrs Clara Barnes of Fond du lac, Wisconsin, Mrs Kate Handwork, Overland, Kansas, Mrs Frona Bernard of Taylor, North Dakota, Mrs Anna Hutter of Fond du lac, Wisconsin, Mrs Mary Bernard of Wahpeton, North Dakota, and Mrs Pauline Koebn of Lebanon, South Dakota, besides a host of other relatives and friends.
All the family were present for the funeral.
